Many Elton John and Rocketman fans had the amazing opportunity to see the film with the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra playing live. The show ended with Elton John and Taron Egerton coming together on stage to perform “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again.”
After their performance, Dexter Fletcher (Director), Bryce Dallas Howard (Sheila Dwight), Giles Martin (Musical Director), Bernie Taupin, and Jamie Bell (Bernie Taupin), were welcomed to the stage. Each said a few words about working on the film and working with Elton John.
“This has been the greatest creative episode of my life. The people on this stage are going to be friends for life and I know that,” Egerton informed the audience of his experience working on the film.
When it came to Howard’s turn to speak, she gushed over the entire evening, “I can’t add anything to this, other than this is a night that all of us will never forget as long as we live. We want to say thank you one more time for the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra and conductor John Beal. What a night!”
Before the show came to an end, Egerton informed the audience that there was one more song he’d like to sing, “There’s one song we’ve never done live and I’ve always wanted to so I think we should do it.” Elton John immediately took his seat at the piano and the two belted out “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me.”
Taking to social media, Howard shares her experience of the evening along with some images of her hair and makeup. “If you thought Rocketman was epic in theaters, imagine watching Elton John, Taron Egerton, and Hollywood Symphony Orchestra playing LIVE with the film! It continues to be so incredible to have a front row seat to these wonderful collaborators working together. Thank you Greek Theatre for being an amazing host and audience”
