January 23, 2017 — “On Buying Her Red Carpet Dresses: ‘I Want to Feel Good’
“I have a few girlfriends I look up to in terms of style. I went to college with Daphne Javitch and Katherine Waterston. Daphne and Katherine are really good friends. They were at various times in my young life — I was their project. They’re supportive girlfriends,” says Howard. “I had to accept that loungewear is not acceptable in all circumstances. It was more about having fun and figuring it out. When I was 20, all I wanted to do was look 38. Now, here I am, I’m almost 36 — yes, a blazer is going to always work! Daphne and Katherine would show me paintings of women with curves. Look how sensual this is. They would encourage that.”

November 2, 2016 — “Bryce Dallas Howard’s Family Could Barely Sit Through Her Episode of Black Mirror“
“When I started Instagram, it was just me posting! But then at some point, like eight months ago, I realized I could see what other people were sharing. It was so exciting and so fun, but it was like I’d already gotten into the rhythm of sharing and not worrying about what it was like compared to other accounts. I think that was kind of protective, in a way.”

November 1, 2016 — “Black Mirror star Bryce Dallas Howard stresses out over her social media accounts”
“It’s so stressful,” she says, revealing that she is also the sort of person who worries about making spelling and grammatical mistakes in posts. Howard says: “I very rarely am, like, ‘I just want to post that’, and post it within 15 seconds. It takes some time.”

October 28, 2016 — “Bryce Dallas Howard and Alice Eve explain why they’re wary of the ‘cartoon world’ of social media“
“I think that [through social media], people are universally experiencing what public figures have dealt with for a while. When I first started doing press when I was a young actor… I knew what to do on a set, or on a stage, but press is totally different. People would always be like, “Just be yourself,” and I’m like, “What fucking version?” Really! So much of my 20s was about investigating, like … who am I, really, because I’m being put on the spot here to represent a version of myself, and I’m not prepared to do that at all. I’m prepared to be one on one with people, but other than that, I don’t get it. And so I think that now, we’re all sort of keenly aware of how we come off — or we’re keenly aware that we’re choosing to come off a certain way.”

October 26, 2016 — “Bryce Dallas Howard on Body Image, Social Media, and Gaining 30 Pounds for Black Mirror”
“I joined social media not even a year ago. I joined on Thanksgiving, and then within two weeks I was doing this job. So this show was a part of my mindset, and I was able to think critically about it. Social media is a performance like any other form of entertainment, and acknowledging that is important. For me personally, I don’t go onto Twitter or Facebook, my hubby helps me out because sometimes I’m concerned that I’ll see something that will upset me, and I don’t have a way to work it out with that person. In the beginning, I started posting and someone I’m close to said, “you’re only posting pictures of yourself in your grungy pajamas. You’re an actress be aspirational.” Then I was like, “I’m not living an aspirational life on a day-to-day basis.” For a while after that I was only taking pictures of, like, objects.”

October 26, 2016 — “Bryce Dallas Howard Says Her ‘Black Mirror’ Social Media Nightmare ‘Is Happening Already'”
“The way that I was raised was to not be very conscious of yourself. I think because my parents were mindful of the fact that there might be a little bit more attention growing up and pressure or focus, that they went the opposite way with us. Myself and my siblings, we’re not self-conscious people. So having to be careful or thoughtful about what I’m putting out there and what I look like when taking a photograph? Having that kind of awareness takes some effort.”

October 25, 2016 — “Ron Howard had to sell Bryce Dallas Howard on Facebook”
“Howard felt pressure in the industry as well — as the star of the blockbuster “Jurassic World,” the actress said offers increasingly have come saddled with obligations for sharing ‘on my socials’. October 21, 2016 — “Black Mirror’s Stars and Writers on How They Made the Most Disturbing Season yet”
“It’s the real world, enhanced, the way Howard took her own “absurd” laugh (as she described it to me) and tweaked it into Lacie’s “operatic giggle.” Howard recalls reading Mason Currey’s book, Daily Rituals: How Artists Work, and realizing that even in centuries past, people would set aside hours of their day to devote to the maintenance of their public self. “People would have time to write or work or do whatever they were doing, and then there was always a time of the day that was for for writing letters or entertaining visitors,” she says. “I was like, oh, everyone always needs to do email. Some version of emails has always happened.”
